Launching the site

To launch your website, you have to point a domain name to the IP address that was given to you when your new web server was created. There are 2 ways of doing this. Either way you will need to buy a domain name first from a Domain Name Registrar. We always recommend that you retain ownership of your own domain name. We are not a domain name registrar, and do not purchase domain names on your behalf. Once you have a domain name that you want to use, choose who you want to handle your DNS:

  1. We handle DNS
    1. When we handle the DNS for your domain, you are using our name servers to answer requests for that name. Our name server accepts the requests for your domain name and maps it to the IP address in our database. Usually this option is used when we are hosting everything, including your mail.
    2. Our name servers are: NS1.IAMODULES.COM and NS2.IAMODULES.COM
    3. Always contact us and let us know that you are switching the name servers BEFORE you actually do it so that we can make sure the records in DNS are setup accordingly.
  2. You or 3rd party handles DNS
    1. Usually your domain name registrar gives you the option of using their name servers, and allows you to create individual records yourself. This is a common option to use if we are only hosting part of your site (the cart), or we are not handling email services for you.
    2. You will need to create the records required for the services you want us to provide. For hosting a cart page, you would need to add "A" records that point all variations of the name to the system we host. For hosting email, you need to set the "MX" record to the appropriate host.

Securing the site

You will want to make arrangements for securing the site's secure information when accessed through a browser. We sell Comodo 128-bit SSL certificates, and support using other options. We can even provide a free one for your use if you want to use a *.iamodules.net name for the secure pages.
